Pillar 01
Engage
in-ˈgāj, verb. To command your audience's interest and attention — and keep them thinking about your ideas.
Won't strong content alone be enough?
It's a good start. Strong content is integral — and if you're coming to me, you likely feel solid there.
But your content is merely the foundation. Without strong vocal and physical communication, even great ideas fail to land.
As an actor for more than 20 years, I've learned that there are two primary ways to get and hold the attention of an audience: vocal variety and physicality.
Vocal Variety
breath + tone = voice
Too often we try to create voice without strong breath support. Clients come to me with a speaking voice that is:
- — too fast
- — wavering or quivering
- — limited in pitch variation
- — falling off at the ends of sentences
- — tense
- — tired
I can help.
Physicality
Your body language is equally important — virtual or in person. Good posture is integral to healthy voice, and you lose credibility when your appearance is out of alignment with your message. We'll work on your:
- — facial expressions
- — posture
- — purposeful hand gestures
- — use of space
- — eye contact
These skills are simple — but not easy.
They require effort and practice.
